Raphael Gielgen – Trendscout Future of Work, Vitra
Even some of his own colleagues think he’s a little crazy. His irrepressible curiosity, his restless quest for explanations, and his delight at upending everything can occasionally make him an uncomfortable companion. When he appears at the office after returning from a long trip, he recounts things that sound more like a virtual utopia than a reality that has been experienced.
His curiosity for architecture, technology and social change in the context of working environments is his fuel – always connected to the question of how the global working world is changing and what impact it has on existing business models. He visits over one hundred companies, universities, Start-ups and makers in a single year. The world is his workplace, the future his area of research. His work informs Vitra´s approach to improving the quality of offices and public spaces through the power of design by serving the varied Vitra team with the results of my observations and cognitions by trend clusters, market analysis and business cases.
Raphael Gielgen shows approaches and ideas to grasp and understand the world in its simultaneity, diversity and complexity. He gives guidance and orientation and makes opportunities out of avoidable uncertainties.
